USL : Montreal Impact : arrogance or silliness ?

Last month, as it faced Porto Rico in the first round of the USL playoffs, Impact decided to forego its home field advantage in order to reduce the team's travels.

The strategy paid off handosmely as Montreal tied 0-0 at home and was then routed 3-0 in Porto Rico by a team which did not seem worse off for travelling to and back from Montreal in a matter of days.

Renouncing the home field advantage may nevertheless not have such a bad move.

The Impact performance during the season was very consistent, whether the team played at home or abroad: if the Montrealers scored first, they won; if their opponents scored first, the Montrealers lost.

Is a team which cannot turn a game really a team ? Is not the ability to change a game plan the coach's number one responsibility?

The Impact should call Jim Popp : his GM and coach chores with the Alouettes leave him with a bit free time ; why not give him a try at coaching the Impact ?

After all, it still is football.
