Tennis : ATP-sponsored immorality.

At the ATP Shanghai Masters, the Bryan brothers did not enter the doubles competition.

Had the ATP, for the second time in the week, wisely followed MSA's advice and banned brotherly pairs ? I would say "yes", but I doubt it; time will tell.

In any case, the US twins' absence opened the door for Canadian Daniel Nestor and his partner.

Which partner ? That is the question.

Though Nestor now lived on court with Nenad Zimonjic, he had qualified for the Masters with former parnter Mark Knowles.

Imagine having to return to your ex two months after you dumped her or him for a younger better serving and therefore more attractive alternative ?

Embarassing, is it not ?

Fortunately for him, Daniel Nestor, if not a gentleman is a real pro.

So is Mark Knowles. He apparently resisted the temptation to serve into his ex-ex's back and the old new dead reborn pair won the title.

For the first time. A Hollywood-style epilogue to their 13 years together.

Or ?

I would not have been Nenad Zimonjic during the past week. I would not be him either during the next few weeks.

The tennis season is over. He is not to see his partner before 2008. But does he still have a partner? Are Nestor and Knowles back together ? Are we on the verge of an on-court love triangle with Nestor alternating partners like Carbonneau goalies ?

This is much better than tennis, even better than reality TV.

Is it the latest ATP ploy to breaht new life and Viagra into its doubles events ?

In any case, expect more drama and unexpected twists, smashes and volleys in the plot.

I would not rule out, against most odds, a Knowles-Zimonjic pair at Wimbledon, and Nestor left to eat stawberries with cream and ponder on men's fickleness on his own.

Stay tuned.
